Introducing Jose Varghese who will talk about Progressive Web Apps In WordPress

Meet Jose Varghese – our next speaker for WordCamp Kochi 2018!

Jose started his journey in WordPress during 2010, and has worked upon more than 200+ websites on WordPress. He enjoys experimenting with PWA on websites, and tweaking settings, until they’re just right to make an increase on the website’s performance. Jose loves to stay current with the latest news and features coming out in Progressive Web Apps, and he loves  sharing his views, and ideas on the latest trends of PWA.

Progressive Web Apps (PWA) is a relatively new technology that aims to bring the best of mobile apps into mobile web. PWA’s enable websites to be installed on devices and have the content available for offline browsing, thus delivering app like browsing experience and improved performance. Although PWA’s are still in their early stages, a lot of the modern browsers already support them, and the possibilities they bring forth, are exciting.

Jose will be speaking at WordCamp Kochi on the topic – The Hitchhiker’s Guide to Progressive Web Apps In WordPress.

His session aims to introduce PWA fundamentals like ‘manifest’ and ‘service worker’ in an easy-to-understand language, with a demo of what a PWA experience looks like. He will also discuss some future possibilities of PWA. With the knowledge and the tools, users will be able to implement PWA features on their websites, right away.

Over the last year, Jose has been founded and working on a plugin to bring PWA features to WordPress named SuperPWA ( Super Progressive Web Apps – available on WordPress.org).  In his session, he will also share his experience, and lessons learned from working on the plugin, and on building a community around it.
